Malvazija is the Slovenian spelling of malvasia, malvasia istriana that is. Though malvasia stekariana might be more at place here, because once Janko Štekar starts working with this grape, it becomes something very distinctive. In terms of style, Stekars wines are somewhat in between typical Slovenian wine and Georgian wine. Very dry, with beautifully bound acids, and the almost incomprehensible primal flavors of resin, earth and herbs that have been slowly dried in the Mediterranean sun. This is truly an experience. Buy this wine to drink now or to keep well into the decades to come.
